Dorothy Cardwell

 

SANTA FE - Mrs. Dorothy Cardwell passed from this life Friday morning, June 17, 2011, in Texas City.

 

     Born February 6, 1919 in Galveston, TX, Mrs. Cardwell had been a resident of Santa Fe for the past 53 years, previously of La Marque.  She was a member of the 1936 graduating class of Santa Fe High School.   Dorothy was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

 

     She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, William V. Cardwell, Sr.; parents, William Jack and Kate (Kline) McPeters; 8 sisters and 1 brother.

 

     Survivors include her son, William V. Cardwell, Jr. and wife, Glenda of Santa Fe; daughters, Deanna C. Oppermann and husband, K. Robert of The Woodlands, Judith Harris of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Sandra Altemus of Carlsbad, CA, Katherine Phillips and husband, Wayne of The Woodlands, Robert J. Oppermann and wife, Suzanne of Houston, Laura Oppermann of Houston, Patti Dana and husband, Mark of Ft. Worth, Burch Kealey and wife, Renee of Omaha, NE, Alicia Casanova of Moline, IL, Larry Kealey and wife, Ronda Jean of Sugar Land, Darla Mensik and husband, Travis of Santa Fe, Stacie Verm and husband, Greg of Santa Fe; great-grandchildren, Robb, Alec and Cole Altemus of Carlsbad, CA, Katie and Will Phillips of The Woodlands, Robert, Caroline, John and Mary Oppermann of Houston, Ryan Green and Jared Dana of Ft. Worth, Patrick Michael Kealey of Omaha, NE, Heather Kroll of Moline, IL, Travis Cardwell and Sophia Mensik of Santa Fe, Gregory and Kylie Verm of Santa Fe.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at Alta Loma Cemetery.

 

     Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.

 

     Mrs. Cardwell’s family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Ashton Parke Care Center for the love and care given to Mrs. Cardwell.
