Dorothy May LaMance

 

Texas City - Mrs. Dorothy May LaMance passed from this life Wednesday afternoon, March 9, 2011, in Webster.

 

     Born September 12, 1927 in Galveston, TX, Mrs. LaMance had been a long time resident of Galveston County, living in Texas City and Galveston since 1949.  She had been the secretary and co-owner of Land & Sea Welding for over 20 years and enjoyed cooking, crocheting, collecting dolls and especially loved her children and grandchildren.

 

     She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Andrew Jackson LaMance; parents, Jack Edward and Josey May (Salyer) McMann; brother, Jack McMahon and a sister, Ruby McMahon.

 

     Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Acey and husband, John of Santa Fe, Barbara Dailey of LaMarque, Delynn Falcon of Gainesville, FL; son, Jack Dean LaMance and wife, Ann of Parsons, TN; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

 

     Dorothy’s family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
