Eva McCormick

 

ALGOA - Mrs. Eva McCormick passed from this life Thursday afternoon, April 1, 2010, in La Marque.

 

     Born March 6, 1913 in Galveston, TX, Mrs. McCormick had lived most of her life in Algoa.  She had been a dedicated homemaker, the former owner and operator of the Mobil station on Hwy 6 and Holloway Rd. and a member of First Baptist Church of Algoa.  Eva enjoyed spending her time cooking, playing Yahtzee, gardening and raising chickens.

 

     She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Coy McCormick; daughters, Winnie Mae King, Claudia Joan Williamson; parents, William “Jack” and Kate (Rake) McPeters; 6 sisters and one brother.

 

     Survivors include her sons, James Franklin McCormick of CA; Roger Martin McCormick and wife, Charlene of Algoa; daughters, Nancy Caroline Slagle of CA, McNeva Ann Blair of Bacliff; sister, Dorothy Cardwell of Santa Fe; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

     Casketbearers will be David Blair, Jr., Andrew Coppa, Scottie Keneson, Randy Krug, Robert Vass and Chris Williamson.

 

     Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.

 

     Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to Taping for the Blind, Inc., 3935 Essex Lane, Houston, TX 77027.
