Eva Murray Corkill
SANTA FE - Mrs. Eva Murray Corkill passed from this life Friday morning, September 9, 2011, in Texas City.
Born April 2, 1938 in Biloxi, Mississippi, Mrs. Corkill, although recently resided in Santa Fe, had been a lifetime resident of Hitchcock, was a homemaker and attended Gulf Coast Christian Center. Eva enjoyed riding her bike, helping friends with their yards, picking up pecans and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 21 years, James Martin Corkill; and parents, James and Annie (Murphey) Lott.
Mrs. Corkill is survived by her daughters, Mollie Pauline Corkill of Hitchcock, Alva Colleen Mitchell and husband, James W. of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Brooke Ann Corkill, Robert Lee Wallis, Rudy Martin Corkill; great-grandson, Martin Joseph Corkill; sisters, Kathryn Vaughn and husband, Laddie of Houston, Johnnie Lewis and husband, Richard of New Jersey, and Martin’s mother, T.C. McKenzie.
A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Hwy 6, (409) 925-3501, with Pastor John Elliott officiating.
