Mrs. Evelyn F. "Mickey" Wallis SANTA FE – Mrs. Evelyn F. “Mickey” Wallis passed from this life Tuesday morning, September 2, 2008, in Webster. Born June 29, 1921 in Miami, Texas, Evelyn (or “Mickey” as she was known to many) had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1957, previously of Galveston. She had been a nurse since the 1940’s, having worked primarily at St. Mary’s Hospital in Galveston and County Memorial Hospital in Texas City before her retirement in the 1980’s. She attended Calvary Crossroad Church in Santa Fe, was a lifetime member of the Mamie D. Crain Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Sweetwater and enjoyed oil painting and watching trains. Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert M. Wallis and her son, Morris H. Wallis, survivors include her son, Donnas B. Wallis and his companion, April; daughter and son-in-law, Christie M. and Lloyd Willis; grandchildren and their spouses, Monique A. and Harry, Monna M. and Jimmy, Rhea-Jean, Donnas W. and Gail, Brandie M. and Carl; great grandchildren, CE’ and Jonah, Joshua, Robert and Callie, Donnas, Jr., Autumn, Cody, Summer, Aryss, Ashlynn, Alex, Veronica, Harry, Jr., Crysta; great-great-grandchildren, Mira, Brandie and Sarah and daughter-in-law, Lanita. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008, with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Pastors Del Toler and Harry White officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Saturn Cemetery in Saturn, Texas. Honorary bearers will be Al Corsaro, Jonah Ireton, Joshua Smith, Cody Syers, Donnas Willis, Donnas Willis, Jr., and Carl Wilson.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Suzanne McClure for her loving care of Mrs. Wallis through the years and to Dr. David Nickeson for not only his medical care, but for his close friendship as well.
