Fern Bessie Steinbach
SANTA FE – Mrs. Fern Bessie Steinbach passed from this life Thursday afternoon, February 12, 2009, in Texas City.
Born November 1, 1918 in O’Neal, Nebraska, Mrs. Steinbach had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1970, previously of Texas City. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Texas City and enjoyed canning pickles, making kolaches, working in her flower garden and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Arthur Steinbach; sons, Francis James Steinbach, Arthur Steinbach, Larry Steinbach; parents, Oscar and Florence (Ahn) Keithley and brother, Bill Keithley.
Survivors include her daughters-in-law, Mrs. Larry (Carla) Steinbach of Texas City, Mrs. Arthur (Rosemary) Steinbach of Santa Fe; brothers, Dutch Keithley, Vernon “Tuffy” Keithley, Floyd Keithley; sisters, Elvinia Rockford, Deloris Crist, Mary Doublewarner, Viola Cofax; grandchildren, Larry D. Steinbach, Roy Allen Steinbach, Arthur W. Steinbach, Fern Marie Steinbach Faulk; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and 2 on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Matthew Brackman officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Chester Bolen, Bruce Keithley, Jeffrey Keithley, Arthur W. Steinbach, Larry Steinbach, Jr. and Roy Allen Steinbach.
