Jeanette Stavely Fondren
TEXAS CITY – Jeanette Stavely Fondren passed from this life Friday, May 6, 2011, at Gulf Health Care Center Nursing Home in Texas City.
Born August 19, 1925 in Arcadia, Aunt Net lived in Galveston County all of her life, residing for the last several years at the nursing home. During her life, Aunt Net worked as a secretary and was a homemaker. In her spare time she was a seamstress for her family and close friends and enjoyed cooking her favorite foods for her family, reading and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Fondren; father, John Jefferson Stavely, Sr., mother; Audrey Stavely Faulker; brothers, Clyde F. Stavely, Tommy E. Stavely, Alex “Billy” Stavely; sister, Omega “Mickey” Stavely and nephew, Bill Dennis Stavely.
She is survived by her brother, John J. Stavely, Jr. and her special nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews that all knew her as Aunt Net.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Pastor Terry Gibson officiating. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
