Mabel Schaper Schulze
SANTA FE - Mrs. Mabel Schaper Schulze passed from this life Monday evening, February 21, 2011, peacefully at her home.
Born December 7, 1919 in Galveston, TX, Mrs. Schulze had been a life long resident of Santa Fe and Galveston. She had owned and operated Schulze Supermarket in Santa Fe for 42 years with her husband, Henry. Mabel enjoyed taking trips to Louisiana, was an avid Astros baseball fan and especially loved her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dietrich Schulze; granddaughter, Karen Foley; brothers, A.C. Schaper, Buck Schaper, Harold Schaper, Louis Schaper, Victor Schaper, Robbie Schaper; sisters, Ethel Mae Schaper, Helen Walker, Anna Bell Swygert.
Survivors include her son, Mike Schulze and wife, Cathy of Santa Fe; daughter, Wanda Jameson and husband, Bob of Danville, CA; grandchildren, Kristen Foley, Stephen Schulze and wife, Shannon, Leslie Derrisaw and husband, Charlie; great-grandchildren, Kaylei Edmonston, Jaxson Derrisaw, Madison Schulze, Emerson Schulze, MacKenzie Jones; brothers, Ray Schaper of Galveston, Leroy Schaper and wife, Jane of Dickinson; sisters, Catherine Seifkes of Houston; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Wayne C. Clement officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Casketbearers will be Charlie Derrisaw, Stephen Schulze, Mark Schulze.
