Marryon Jane Porter
SANTA FE - Marryon Jane Porter, 81 of Santa Fe passed from this life on September 28, 2008, at home with her daughter.
She was born December 15, 1926 to Lillian and Walter David Rouch in Dallas, TX. Through the great depression, as a child she lived between Houston at her sister’s house and Dallas at her mom’s. For the past 29 years Marryon resided in Alta Loma/Santa Fe, with her family of whom she loved.
Her life was spent in devotion to her family and community service including the following: a Blue Bird and a Cub Scout leader, Drill team leader at Mt. Carmel Church, PTA officer, homeroom mother, Pink Lady for the hospital and various activities at her church.
At age 50, she returned to school, was V.P. of her nursing class and became a registered L.V.N. In her late 50’s she helped at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School as a teacher’s assistant to Sister Virginia and then at 60 she started the Extended Day Care program at the School. In her 70’s she was a reading mentor for the HOSTS program at SFISD.
She lived a full and colorful life and will be missed dearly, but will be remembered in our hearts forever.
Preceded in death by her husband, Ishmael Boyd Porter and is survived by her daughter, Vicki Chadwick of Santa Fe; son, Craig Porter of Bakersfield, CA; grandchildren, Christy Hunt and husband, Paul Thornton III of Santa Fe, Shelley Chadwick of Irving, TX, Stephanie Porter and husband, Kevin Freudensprung of Santa Fe, Robert Chadwick and wife, Crystal of Santa Fe; plus seven beloved great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Payton, Colton, Tanna, Shelby, Tucker and Gage all of Santa Fe.
A private service was held for the family on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 with interment at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.
