Mary Ellen Klopp

 

SANTA FE - Mrs. Mary Ellen Klopp passed from this life Wednesday evening, May 4, 2011, in Texas City.

 

     Born October 8, 1926 in Crete, Nebraska, Mrs. Klopp had been a resident of Santa Fe for 39 years.  She had been a homemaker and was a member of the FOE Eagle’s Club for 34 years.  Mary enjoyed spending time crocheting, knitting, arts and crafts, cooking, gardening and photography.  She loved to dance and especially traveling, having traveled to all but 4 states.

 

     She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann Brown; parents, Arthur J. and Mary Edith (Britton) Axline; sister, Artie Mortenson.

 

     Survivors include her loving husband of over 64 years, William Edward Klopp of Santa Fe; son, William A. Klopp of Texas City; grandchildren, Crystal Lopez and husband, Bubbie, James Brown, Shawn Brown, Susan Forbes and husband, Raymond; great-grandchildren, Billy Estep, Jr. and 14 others, brothers, Harry Axline and wife, Marlene, Harold Axline and wife, Sharon, all of Nebraska; sister, Alta Axline and husband, Stubb of Nebraska.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor John Newton officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

     Casketbearers will be Billy Burns, Billy Burns, III, Jonathan Burns, Steven Burns, Bubbie Lopez and Dewey Louviere. 

 

     Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
