Mary L. Polasek
SANTA FE – Mrs. Mary L. Polasek passed from this life Saturday afternoon, October 29, 2011, at UTMB in Galveston, surrounded by her family.
Mary was born December 1944 in Galveston, raised in Galveston, and was a graduate of Ball High School. She married William “Willie” Polasek in November of 1967 and began a union that would span 44 years and produce one child, their daughter, Lisa. Mary, Willie and Lisa moved to Santa Fe in 1974 and it was there that Mary enjoyed baking, crocheting, making all kinds of arts and crafts and spending time with her family. She worked as a secretary for the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission for 21 years before her retirement in 2004.
Preceded in death by her parents, William and Lena Jackson and her brother, Billy, she is survived by her husband, Willie; daughter, Lisa Gomez and her husband, Eddie of Hitchcock; brother, Gerald “Buddy” Jackson of Galveston; sisters, Cynthia Jackson of Dallas and Brenda Van Ness; brother-in-law, Johnny Polasek; sisters-in-law, Sissy Campos and Marcella Ricicar, all of Texas City and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2011, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Reverend C. Wayne Clement officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
