Mattie R. Henry

 

TEXAS CITY - Mrs. Mattie R. Henry passed from this life Friday morning, July 17, 2009, in Texas City.

 

     Born October 13, 1924 in Burnett, TX, Mrs. Henry had been a resident of Texas City since 1939.  She had worked for two years at Monsanto as a switchboard operator before her marriage to Wilfred and then devoted her life to caring for her family. Mrs. Henry enjoyed sewing and collecting dinnerware from her travels.

 

     She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Wilfred G. Henry; parents, Dudley P. and Marie (Reeves) Allbright and sister, Edna Marie Fagg.

 

    Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Ann Martin of Texas City; brother and sister-in-law, Dudley and Elizabeth Allbright of Alvin; sister, Joyce L. Goodloe of Amarillo; granddaughter, Joanna K. Ianni and husband, Carlo; grandson, James Martin; great-grandchildren, Kealy Martin and James Martin, Jr.

 

     Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, at Memorial Lutheran Church with Reverend Wayne Clement officiating.  A private cremation will be performed under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
