Rita Ousley
TYLER – Mrs. Rita Don Ousley passed from this life Saturday morning, August 21, 2010, in Tyler.
Born March 20, 1932 in Wichita Falls, Texas, Mrs. Ousley had been a resident of Hitchcock for over 40 years before moving to Tyler in 2004. In addition to being a member of the First Baptist Church in Tyler, where she had been active in the senior choir, she was also a former longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Hitchcock and had served as the Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. She had been active in the WMU and headed several camps at the Baptist encampment in Palacios throughout the years, was an accomplished artist and had worked as a telephone operator in the 1950’s, but her greatest love was her family.
Preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Glenn Ousley, parents, Tom Jordan and Florence Elizabeth Jordan Canfield; brother, Arthur Wayne Jordan and sister, Dorothy Helen Jordan, survivors include her daughters and their spouses, Brenda and Frank O’Neal of Tyler, Rebecca and Earnest Wright of Santa Fe; son, Bruce Ousley of Hitchcock; 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild on the way.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Dr. Mark Neeley officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Dean Davis, Jody Davis, Mark O’Neal, Matthew O’Neal, Zach O’Neal, Bryan Ousley, Gary Wright and Tom Wright.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
