SANTA FE – Mrs. Rosa May (Stillone) Catching, 78, of Santa Fe died Thursday, January 1, 2009, at her residence.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2009, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Hwy 6, Hitchcock, (409) 925-3501, with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Catching was born May 1, 1930 in Galveston, Texas to John and Ada Stillone. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Anthony and Joe Macaluso, Joe Stillone and sister, Jerome Marabella. She is survived by her husband, Jessie P. Catching, Jr. of Santa Fe; three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kim Catching, Trey and Janet Catching and Kevin and Stacy Catching; sisters, Camilla Marabella, Laura Stillone and Annie Stillone, all of Santa Fe; four grandchildren, Nathan Catching of West Point, NY, Lauren Catching of San Marcos, Chelsea Catching and Miranda Catching, both of Santa Fe.
Rosa May attended Galveston Public Schools and had been employed at Southern Compress Cotton Co. and Magnolia Paper Co. in Galveston, Jordan’s Groceries and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Hitchcock. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, a 30 year member of Al-Anon and was an avid bingo player
Rosa May married Jessie on October 4, 1958 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past October with family and friends. She was a 50 year resident of Santa and was a kind and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Catching, Kevin Chaffin, nephew, Frank Marabella, Frank Macaluso, Ron Lawson and Mike Knuckles. Honorary bearers will be her three granddaughters, Lauren, Chelsea and Miranda Catching and the Santa Fe Group.
