Ruth Dieringer Carr

Hitchcock - Ruth Dieringer Carr, 85, cast off her earthly bonds and entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.  Ruth was a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.  Born July 21, 1925 in Nordheim, Texas to Annie G. Dieringer and Herbert J. Dieringer and graduated from Banquete High School in Banquete, Texas.  Ruth married her husband, Ed Carr on October 20, 1942 and followed him throughout the United States during his service in World War II, prior to his deployment overseas. After the war Ed and Ruth settled in the Galveston County area, moving to Hitchcock, Texas in 1952 where they raised a family of five.

     Ruth was known as a willing worker who touched the lives of many through her work as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a local Avon Representative.  She remained an active Avon representative for more than forty years and continued until to her most recent illness.  She converted to Roman Catholicism in 1964 and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

     Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Dorothy Harriman, and her brother, Harvey Dieringer. Her legacy continues through her family - Ed, her beloved spouse of 68 years; sister, Joyce and husband, Charles Anderson; brother, John Dieringer and wife, Mary Ellen; sister-in-law, Mary Beth Dieringer; her five children, Barbara Schoen and husband, Billy, Janet Ivey and husband, Mark, Carol Owens and husband, Clifford, Michael Carr and wife, Marie, James Carr; fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

     Family members will receive guests from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, May, 1, 2011 at Hayes Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm.  The rite of Christian burial, including the Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

     Casketbearers will be Adam Carr, John Carr, Russell Carr, Cliff Owens, Jr., Billy Schoen, Jr., Bryan Schoen.  Honorary bearers will be Sara Carr, Jennifer Cortez, Brandi Guy, Miranda Moore, Shawn Kadlecek.
