Sandy Cook
SANTA FE - Mrs. Sandy Cook passed from this life Wednesday morning, February 17, 2010, in Texas City.
Born May 10, 1938 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Mrs. Cook had been a resident of Santa Fe for 39 years, previously of Kingston, PA. She had been employed as a waitress at Busy Bee Café in Santa Fe and worked as a mutual teller at Gulf Greyhound Park for 17 years. She was a member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church, a longtime member of Alanon and loved to play bingo, cook, camp, fish, bowl and dearly loved her cats and dogs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dorothy (Preston) Singer and brother, Joseph Edward Singer.
Survivors include her loving husband of over 36 years, Alvin Cook; sons, Preston Allen Youngblood and wife Carol, all of Santa Fe, Gordon Youngblood and wife, Cheryl of Hitchcock; daughter, Karen Morehead and life partner, R. C. Brister of Santa Fe; brother, Fred Weidner of Watertown, NY; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church with Reverend Bobbie Knowles officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Casketbearers will be John Carr, Thomas Melton, James Morehead, II, Chris Procho, John Stuart and Staff SGT. Preston Youngblood, II.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
