Versell Thompson

 

TEXAS CITY - Mrs. Versell Thompson passed from this life Saturday morning, December 4, 2010, in Texas City.

 

     Born in Minden Louisiana, Mrs. Thompson had been a resident of Texas City for 30 years, previously of California.  She had been employed with American National Insurance Company for 5 years and was the founder and charter member of The House of Prayer Church in Texas City, where she served as Pastor for 24 years. 

 

     She was preceded in death by Roger Kimble, father and Willie Bell Roberts, mother and brother, Roger Kimble, Jr.

 

     Survivors include her loving husband of over 11 years, Allen Thompson of Texas City; sons, John Allums, Edward Allums of Texas City and Lee Allums of Houston; grandson, Lee Allums, Jr.; sister, Herris Rawls; brother, Gerald Kimble, both of Minden; god-daughter, Stephanie Spells; god-son, David Stokes; numerous nieces and nephews, great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews and other relatives.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2010, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor F. M. Ballard officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

     Viewing will be 5 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.

 

     The family would like to extend a special thanks to Wanda Alstock, Patricia Lewis, Gary Edmond, Kamika McClendon Joyce Grimes and LaQuanda Bailey for the love, support and special times they spent with Versell.
