Wilma Joyce O’Connor

 

SANTA FE - Mrs. Wilma Joyce O’Connor passed from this life Friday afternoon, April 17, 2009, at her home.

 

     Born July 3, 1939 in Galveston, TX, Mrs. O’Connor had been a resident of Santa Fe for 11 years, previously of Galveston.  She had been employed as a cashier/patient finance clerk with UTMB for 20 years and was formerly employed with the Coca Cola Bottling facility in Galveston.  Wilma enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren playing poker, bingo and bowling.

 

     She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Carl Frank O’Connor and her parents, Randall and Emma Baker and Edward and Mamie Aoughsten.

 

     Survivors include her sons, Carl F. O’Connor, III and wife, Betty Jo of Santa Fe, Louis O’Connor of Texas City, Robert O’Connor of Baytown, Edward O’Connor and wife, Debbie of Galveston, Henry O’Connor of Santa Fe; daughters, Lucky O’Connor of Santa Fe, Evelyn DeLaGarza and husband, Eddie of Hackberry, LA; close friend, Mike Henson of Santa Fe; beloved friend, Larry Baulch of Santa Fe; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009, in the Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.  

 

     Casketbearers will be Tabitha Butler, Carl O’Connor, Daniel O’Connor, Edward O’Connor, Jr., Joseph O’Connor and Krystal O’Connor.  Honorary bearers will be Carl Hendrix, Alicia Kovacevich, Amber Kovacevich, Ashley Kovacevich and Anthony O’Connor.

      

     Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6,Hitchcock (409) 925-3501. 

 

     Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to the charity of their choice.
