SANTA FE - Mr. Thomas Lysander Greene, Jr. passed from this life Tuesday morning, December 29, 2009, in Texas City.
Born July 1, 1926 in Leesburg, Florida, Mr. Greene had been a resident of Santa Fe for 35 years, previously of Arcadia. He had retired from the US Coast Guard in 1966 after 20 years of service and later retired from the Corp of Engineers. Following his active duty, he maintained the Coast Guard homes in Galveston with the Civil Service, thoroughly enjoyed playing his guitar and was a member of Abundant Life Christian Center.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Wesley Greene; parents, Thomas L. and Edna Beatrice (Harper) Greene, Sr.; and sisters, Helen Simmons and Addene Irey.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 57 years, Annie Greene of Santa Fe; son, Johnny Wayman Crump, Sr. and wife, Heidie of Santa Fe; daughter, Patricia Fanguy of Algoa; grandchildren, John W. Crump, Jr., Pattie Crump, LeAnn Crump, Victoria Fanguy, Tina Charles, Nikolai Charles, Arielle Charles; 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend O. J. Herring, Jr. officiating. A private interment will be conducted at Houston National Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Casketbearers will be Nikolai Charles, Arron Crump, Johnny W. Crump, Jr., Thomas Joseph Crump, Chad Grocock and Shelby Padgept. Honorary bearer will be Adrian Tyler Bedard.
Visitation with the family will be 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
