Victor John Taranto, Jr.
HITCHCOCK – Mr. Victor John Taranto, Jr. passed from this life Thursday, March 3, 2011, at his home.
Born December 7, 1933 in New Orleans, LA, Mr. Taranto had been a longtime resident of Hitchcock and had made Texas his home for over 20 years. Victor proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He had been employed with various demolition businesses as a heavy equipment operator from the time he was fifteen until he turned seventy five. Victor enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood working and especially loved to shoot pool and play cards. He was a wonderful man and will truly be missed by all of those with whom he shared his life.
Survivors include his son, Victor J. Taranto, III of Louisiana; daughters, Alice Marie Sargent of Oklahoma, Tammy Ann Sargent of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brother, Phillip Taranto; numerous nieces and nephews and his special friend, Debbie Severin of Santa Fe.
A memorial service will be conducted 7pm Monday, March 7, 2011 at Santa Fe Christian Church with Pastor Darrell Boswell officiating. A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
