William P. Lucas, Jr.
CORPUS CHRISTI - Mr. William Peter Lucas, Jr., 81, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, and went to be with our Lord and Savior after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Galveston on August 27, 1927 and grew up in La Marque. He served two years in the Marine Corps and moved his family to Corpus Christi in 1952. He retired from CCAD in 1995 after working there for 32 years. He was a member of Believers Fellowship Church, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William (Willie) P. Lucas, Sr. and Myrtle Lucas and his brother, Richard Lucas.
Survivors include his wife, of over 60 years, Darlene Marie Lucas; two sons, David Lucas and wife, Barbara of Corpus Christi, Roger Lucas and wife, Janice of Santa Fe; daughter, Susan Pratt of Starkville, MS; grandchildren, Katie and Amin Parnian, Audrey Lucas, Dustin Lucas, Gina Lucas, Dillon Lucas, Jimmy Pratt, Phillip Pratt; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Pratt, Jennifer Pratt; sisters, Dorothy Strait of Garland, Jean McKethan of League City, Norma Walker of Citrus Heights, CA; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Unger officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.
Casketbearers will be Dustin Lucas, Dillon Lucas, James Pratt, Phillip Pratt, Amin Parnian and Danny Woitena. Friends may call beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staffs of National Nursing Home and Rehab, Odyssey Hospice and CC Nursing and Rehab, all of Corpus Christi for their care and support. The family would also like to thank everyone else for all their prayers and support.
