Elizabeth Marie Lauer
HITCHCOCK – Our beloved mother, Ms. Elizabeth Marie Lauer “Diesel” passed from this life Saturday evening, April 19, 2008, in Galveston.
Born October 14, 1948 in Warren, Ohio, Ms. Lauer had been a five year resident of Hitchcock, previously of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and had been employed at Schwan’s Food supply as a warehouse packer for two years. She was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed riding for charities, helping with the Rainbow Girls as a stand-in mother, and was also a part of the Christian Motorcycle Association and Abate in Myrtle Beach.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elsie (Uhman) Metlicka; and brothers, Charles and Marc Metlicka.
Survivors include her daughters, Michele Heitman of Jackson, MS, Melissa Chambers, Warren, OH, Daneyell Chambers, Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Adam Chambers, Jerry Evans, Richard Heitman, Kayli Evans; brothers, Thomas Metlicka of Alaska, David Metlicka of Lorain, OH; sisters, Cookie Thompkins of Austintown, OH, Laura Oakes of Watertown, NY, and Lillie Stack of Virginia Beach, VA.
Memorial Services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2008, in the Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6 in Hitchcock, with Brother Harry Stafford officiating.
There will be a benefit motorcycle run beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, in Diesel’s memory beginning at Awesome Cycles, 10505 Highway 6 in Hitchcock. A Bar-B-Q will follow.
