Virginia Jewel McCoy
SANTA FE - Ms. Virginia Jewel McCoy passed from this life Sunday afternoon, January 16, 2011, at her home.
Born December 29, 1943 in Hayti, Missouri, Ms. McCoy had been a resident of Galveston County since 1971, previously of St. Louis. She had been employed as a supervisor with BP-Amoco for 23 years and enjoyed going to the beach, shopping, eating at Ryan’s Steakhouse and making latch hook rugs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Hazel Katherine (Decker) James; brother, Jerry Jones; ex-husband, Joseph Edward McCoy; mother-in-law, Olva McCoy.
Survivors include her sons, James McCoy and partner, Darryl Harris of Houston, Mark McCoy and wife, Melissa of Texas City; daughters, Angela Jo McCoy of Texas City, Christy McCoy and husband, Timothy of Liverpool; stepsons, Joey McCoy, Patrick McCoy; grandchildren, Timothy Lawrence McCoy, Jr., Shane Parler, Emie McCoy; adopted grandson, Joshua Rudolph; great-granddaughter, Kyra McCoy; brother, Bobby James and wife, Alice of Alabama; sisters, Mary Mosby and her significant other, John of Memphis, TN, Dolores Palmer of Hayti, MO; sisters-in-law, Janet McCoy, Brenda McCoy and husband, Gerald, Emma Gan, Patricia Jones, Cathy Stoffran, Shirley Bailey, Glenda Klassner, Wanda McCoy; her loving caretaker, Bobbie Smith of Santa Fe.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Medlin officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Tim Clement, Robert Crain, Daniel Duran, Joey McCoy, Tim McCoy, Jr. and Charles Mikes.
