Myra Jean Haynes
SANTA FE - Mrs. Myra Jean Haynes passed from this life Wednesday morning, December 28, 2011, in Houston.
Born February 3, 1932 in Galveston, Mrs. Haynes had been a lifelong resident of Santa Fe. She was employed as a waitress at The Kettle restaurant in Galveston for 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alta Loma and the VFW Post #5400 Auxillary. She enjoyed reading, movies, playing the slots in Louisiana, but most of all she loved her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband Powell W. “Red” Haynes; parents, Elmer Newman and Stella Casey; brother, Kenneth Newman; sister, Evelyn Galbreath; survivors include her son, Gene Strickland and wife, Rose; grandchildren, Shannon Ybarra, Melissa Tanner; great-grandchildren, Tessa Ybarra, Sierra Tanner, Sydney Tanner and Trenton Tanner.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
