David B. Barker 

     TEXAS CITY – Mr. David B. Barker passed from this life Monday afternoon, February 13, 2017 in Texas City. 

     Born May 18, 1935 in Elgin, Texas, Mr. Barker had been a resident of Texas City since 2008 previously of Gilchrist. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force retiring after 20 years. Mr. Barker was a member of the FOE Aerie #3719 in Port Bolivar, he enjoyed fishing, racketball, watching golf and loved his miniature toy poodle “Sasha”. 

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Dee and Thula Belle (Kincaid) Barker; son, Kevin Howard Barker; brothers, Joe, Hugh, George, Roger, Jimmy, Thomas “T. A.” and Robert Barker. 

     Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Sandra Barker; sons, Richard J. Karns of Dickinson, Mark Karns and wife, Diana of Old River, David Allen Barker and wife, Vivian of Pasadena, Matthew John “Bo” Barker of Texas City, Steven Andrews of Ninnekah, OK; daughter, Dawn Gail Rosenboom and husband, John of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Shannon Karns Heniff, Chelsea Morrell, Larry Benavidez, Kristi Benavidez,  Joshua Benavidez, Mason Barker, Myriah Barker, Karli Barker, Katie Wright, Amy Barker, Matthew Barker, II, Mandy Rosenboom, Michael LaRue, Kevin LaRue, Amber Groce, Ashley LaRue, Emily LaRue, John Rosenboom, II, Jared Rosenboom, Chelsea Rosenboom, Colby Rosenboom; 33 great-grandchildren.   

     Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Judge Mike Nelson officiating.  

     Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501. 

     A private cremation will be conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. 

     Memorials in the form of donations may be made in David’s name to the SPCA, 900 Portway Drive, Houston, Texas 77024.
