Eloise C. Rush

     SANTA FE - Mrs. Eloise C. Rush passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, August 2, 2016, in Clear Lake.

     Born June 11, 1922 in Riverside, Texas, Mrs. Rush had been a longtime resident of Santa Fe. She had been a member of First Baptist Church of Alta Loma since 1941 where she spent many years teaching and influencing both youths and adults. In addition, she was a member of the Martha Sunday School class and served as the church secretary for 8 years. She was a longtime volunteer at Texas Baptist Encampment in Palacios, a member of the Volunteer Christian Builders, had been a substitute teacher at Santa Fe ISD and had served for many years in the Alta Loma VFD Auxiliary. In earlier years, she worked for American National Insurance and at Camp Wallace where she was instrumental during its closing and responsible for transporting records to the VA Hospital in Houston after WWII.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Blanche Childress; her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Rush, Sr.; her brothers, David Childress, Richard Childress, Jr.; her sister, Amy Hajek Kruzick.

     Survivors include her sons, Kenneth D. Jr, and wife, Sally of Rockwall, Jim and wife Karen of Richardson, Mark and wife Michelle of Clear Lake; brother, Roy Kyle and wife, Georgia Childress of Waxahachie; sister, Mary Jane Everett of Conroe; grandchildren, Sarah and Will Harmeyer, Jessica Rush, Allison and John Reno, Lauren Kyle, Emily Rush, Meredith Rush, Kristen Tolley, Katrina Tolley, Karlye Tolley; great-grandchildren, Katie Harmeyer, Liam Harmeyer, Olivia Reno, Penelope Kyle.

     Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Alta Loma, with Pastor John Newton officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

     Pallbearers will be Wayne Cato, Robin Clayton, James Derrisaw, William Hajek, William Harmeyer, Rod Schmidt. Honorary bearers will be Jacob Bigford, George Christian, John Clayton, Preston McBride, Bill Pennington, Tim Wollam.

     Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.

     Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Mrs. Rush’s name to First Baptist Church of Alta Loma, 5400 Main Street, Santa Fe, Texas 77510 and Texas Baptist Encampment, Post Office Box 1265, Palacios, Texas 77465.
