TEXAS CITY – Mrs. Esther Kelley Bowling passed from this life Monday, July 18, 2016, in Friendswood.

     Born December 27, 1925 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Mrs. Bowling had been a resident of Texas City for most of her life. Esther had taught in a one room school house at the Bugtusstle School, was a former sales clerk at J.C. Penney’s in Texas City and worked as a LVN at Galveston County Memorial for 20 years. She enjoyed crocheting, especially afghans and buying quilts.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, Autis and Georgia (Campbell) Kelley; husband, Houston Bowling; sons, Eugene Bowling, Jackie Donald Bowling; daughter, Sherri Bowling; 2 brothers; 4 sisters; great grandchildren, Jacob and Josiah Bowling.  

     Survivors include her son, Richard Bowling and wife, Margaret of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Richard Bowling, Jr. and wife, Lisa, Tammy Hinson and husband, Grady, Neil Bowling and wife, Sara; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great- great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.

     A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.

     Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Esther's name to the Alzheimer's Association, Post Office Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011
