SANTA FE - Mrs. Jewell Irene Young passed from this life Monday evening, March 12, 2018, in Texas City.

Born August 27, 1924 in Bonne Terre, Missouri, Mrs. Young had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1945. She spent her life creating a loving home for her husband, children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Ada (Asher) Roberts; husband, Raymond Young; brothers, J.V. Roberts and wife, Laura, R.M. Roberts, L.M. Roberts and wife, Marie, C.L. Roberts; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Young; grandchildren, Matthew Young and Gregory Young.

Survivors include her sons, W.N. “Bill” Young of Santa Fe, David Young of League City, Robert Young of Arcadia; daughter, Cheryl Alford and husband, Jim of Silsbee; brother, W. E. Roberts and wife, Lessie of Trinity; sisters, Martha Sartain of Trinity, Nancy Harper and husband, W. A. of Sugar Land, Jean Moffett of Kemah; grandchildren, DiAnn Young, David M. Young, Tamara Congdon, Curt Alford, Rebecca Alford, Robert Ryan Young; 12 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Mr. James Curt Alford, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Cottle, Kenny Harper, Mark Harper, Gary Sartain, Ryan Young and Skipper Young. Honorary bearers will be James Moffett and Glen Sartain.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
