To Marie and Family........... Sorry that I am just writing to you. I just saw this on my brothers, ( Harold H. Dowdy ) Facebook page. La Don is my 1st cousin on my Moms side. My Mom ( Louise Dowdy ) and La Dons Grandmother, ( Opal English ) were sisters. My name is Wanda Dowdy and now, I live in Missouri. I did live in Rosharon, which is not far from Santa Fe, Manvel, or Alvin from 1992 to 2009. In 2009 I moved back up here. I was living in Texas City til 1964, when I was 18 and got married to an Air Force guy. We lived at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas for 2 years then we moved to Kansas City. When Mom and Dad got older, they needed help, so that's when I moved back there in 1992. Jimmy Lee ( La Dons Dad ) was coming over at my house all the time, then one day he brought La Don and Danny Paul over and it was a Wonderful surprise. Then the month that my Mom passed away ( October 2001 ) Danny Paul and Jimmy Lee came by the nursing home to see Mom. That's the last time I saw Danny Paul. The one and only time I saw La Don was when his Dad had surprised me with a visit from the boys. When I was in the 3rd grade we were all over at Aunt Opals house. La Don was chasing me in the yard and he had one of those small metal cars the size of a hot wheels in his hand. I tripped and fell and he fell on me and that metal car hit me in the mouth and broke my front big tooth in half. In those days you don't go to the dentist. So when I got older I fixed it myself. My Mom asked me why I didn't tell them about fixing it since I was so self-conscious about it. Anyway, I explained who I am and shared with you brief moments with my cousins. .
I would like to take this moment to send my condolence to you and your Family. La Don was a Wonderful man and a great cousin. We had so much fun growing up together with La Don, Danny Paul and my brothers. I don't know what happened to him for his life to end at such an early age, but I do know that he is now safe in the Heavenly Arms of Jesus Christ our Savior. He is in a beautiful place in Heaven and watching over his family. I know the holidays are really hard to go through this year but my God Bless you and help you get through it and the years to come. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. You will be in my thoughts and prayers every day.

Please accept my deepest heartfelt condolences to all the family and friends of Don, what a great guy. I grieve for the family and friends of my dearest friends brother, we never got that chance to go fishing together. please rest easy knowing that his misery on earth has ended and he is in our heavenly fathers arms now. May God bless.

Marie, Chris, Misty, Tiffany, Jeffrey and the rest of Don's beautiful family:
There are no words to make this time any easier for all of you guys! But the days will eventually get softer making you able to remember Don, talk about him without ripping your heart out and making you cry.
We are so blessed to have called Don our friend. There will be a great loss here on Earth but such a magnificent gain in Heaven.
May God bless all of you and wrap His magnificent comforting arms​ around all of you and comfort you in the days to come.

My Condolences to the family, I worked with Don many times. He was a heck of a guy. He always looked out for everyone, never uncomfortable about speaking out about something that wasn't right. Know he and Danny are rejoicing and building conveyors and turbines to make heaven a better place !! RIP my brother. Hate to hear you are gone.

Marie & family; there will never be another one like Don! We have shared so many memories and I will cherish those forever. Don adored you and all of his children like no other man! We are deeply saddened by this news and only wish that we could have said our good-byes but I'm sure he knew how we felt about him. He is now with old family and friends and will enlighten them all I'm sure. He will have many to greet him with smiling faces in his final home. Marie and Family, Dennis and I are saddened to hear about Don. You and all of your children were blessed to have Don in your life. From the family pictures that I have seen you can tell he was very loved and he loved his family. Sending love and prayers. The Reynolds "office" family sends their love and prayers too.

I consider myself fortunate to have known Don. There is not a man that I know of that I could count on like I could count on him. My condolences to Marie and the rest of the family. Heaven will be a better place with Don in it.
