SANTA FE - Mrs. Margaret June (Hoyland) Symmank passed from this life Thursday evening, July 14, 2016, in Texas City.

Born May 31, 1946 in Alvin, Mrs. Symmank had been a lifelong resident of Galveston County. As a member of First Christian Church of La Marque and active within her community, Margaret touched many lives through her work as a playwright/director and author of her book, Lower Than The Angels.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Johnson and Hazel (Stoneking) Hoyland; brother, Bob Hoyland III.

Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, John David Paul Symmank; sons, Thomas N. and wife, Lisa Symmank of Hillsboro, Joshua and wife, Amanda Symmank of Algoa, Philip Symmank of Spring; daughter, Tina Symmank of Dickinson; sister, Millie and husband, Ted Edwards of Arcadia; sister-in-law, Sandra Hoyland of Boerne; grandchildren, Meagan Votaw, Isaiah Kirk, Victoria Kirk, Jude Symmank, Hazel Symmank, Dalyn Symmank; great-grandchildren, Clowie Votaw, Sevn Votaw.

Memorial services will be 6:00 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at First Christian Church of La Marque, 1204 Ross Street, La Marque, Texas 77568, with Reverend Rex Teter officiating.  A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. 

Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Margaret’s name to Feed The Children, Post Office Box 36, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73101-0036.
