Martha Sidney Harsey 

     SANTA FE - Mrs. Martha Sidney Harsey passed from this life Thursday morning, January 5, 2017, in Galveston. 

     Born October 2, 1941 in Brownsville, Mrs. Harsey had been a resident of Santa Fe for 15 years. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was a certified nurse’s assistant.  Martha enjoyed gardening, swimming, camping and loved raising her children and grandchildren. 

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd W. Moore, Sr. and Martha Pauline (Manhart) Moore-Jones; husband, Johnny Bruce Harsey; brother, Lloyd W. Moore Jr.; step-daughter, Nancy Paige Harsey. 

     Survivors include her children, Glenda Lee Harsey-Taylor and husband, Robert of Cloverleaf, Texas, Frank E. Smith of Delaware, Bobby Joe Smith and Melanie Moffitt of Santa Fe, Billy Ray Smith, Herman E. Bishop and wife, Cindy of Livingston, Debby Lee Clark of Manvel; brother, Lee Moore of Humble; sister, Diane Davis of Tennessee; step-sons, Guy Liston Harsey of Pasadena, Grady Harsey of Webster, Andy Harsey of Clear Lake; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.   

     Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2017, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Herman E. Bishop officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery. 

     Pallbearers will be Charlie Richey, Bryan Cole Schaefer, Robert L. Taylor, Andrew Tucker, Charles Tucker, Clifton Tucker.  Honorary pallbearers will be Guy Liston Harsey, Gavin Tucker and Xavier Tucker. 

     Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.  

     Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Martha’s name to American Cancer Society, Post Office Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123-1718.
