Ronald “Bruce” Robertson

HITCHCOCK- Ronald “Bruce” Robertson passed from this life Friday, October 27, 2017. He was born June 7, 1928 and grew up in Topeka, Kansas. He met the girl he would marry, Jackie, when they were in Junior High School. Jackie later went to Galveston to attend UTMB’s program for x-ray technicians and he followed her there. They were married in Houston, February 25, 1950, and took up residence in Galveston County. Bruce worked as an “operator” first at Amoco in Texas City and then at Celanese/Soltex in Deer Park. He loved music and played the flute and piccolo in the Topeka High School Band. But his greatest musical love was choral music, and the Robertson home was frequently filled with the sounds of the great choral masterpieces. He directed the choir at First United Methodist Church in Hitchcock from the 60’s through the 80’s, and was a soloist and choir member his entire adult life.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Jackie; son, Ron (Bruce Jr.) and his brother and sisters.

He is survived by his daughter, Vickie; sons, Terry and Dale; daughter-in-law, Denise; grandchildren, Dale (Jr.), Karen, Stephen; granddaughter-in-law, Dawn; great-grandchildren, Elexis, Ian, Elijah, Jacqueline and Kaiden.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Hitchock at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017, with Reverend Mike Seltzer officiating.

He was a funny, kind, loving and generous man who touched many lives. He had a gentle and loving spirit. He will be missed.
