Theresa (Novickie) Verm

SANTA FE – Mrs. Theresa (Novickie) Verm passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, January 9, 2018, in Texas City.

Born September 2, 1926 in Sealy, Texas, Mrs. Verm was a lifelong resident of Santa Fe. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society and the Friendship Club and was also a member of the Alta Loma Garden Club. Mrs. Verm was an avid animal lover, and especially enjoyed watching birds. She loved her grandchildren and polka dancing. Theresa will be most remembered for her Sunday afternoon homemade fried chicken and cinnamon rolls she made for her family. She enjoyed gardening, especially roses, azaleas and chrysanthemums. Her beautiful yard once won the yard of the month award.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zefir and Susanna (Gutowsky) Novickie; husband, Ebbie Verm; son, Victor Verm; granddaughter, Brandi Verm; 4 brothers; 1 sister. Survivors include her sons, Bill Verm, Randy Verm; daughters, Betty Jordan and husband, Kelly, Dianne West and husband, John, Sandra Glover and husband, Tom; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and her good friend, Billie Maniscalco.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Casketbearers will be Chris Jordan, Jeff Verm, Randy Verm, Jr., Eric Glover, Gregg Verm and Randy Dillon. Honorary bearers will be Kristina Fortner, Lindsey Verm, Jenni Verm, Michelle Pourchot, Pamela Houston, Michael Dillon, Rodney Verm, Stephen Jordan, Clint Verm, Ryan Dillon, Todd Glover and Kevin Dillon.

Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m., Deacon Joe Kelly officiating, followed by a rosary recited by the Altar and Rosary Society.

Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Theresa’s name to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, 10114 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas 77563.
