Wallace Harley “Budgie” Maynard, Jr.

SANTA FE - Mr. Wallace Harley “Budgie” Maynard, Jr. passed from this life Monday morning, December 18, 2017, in Houston.

Born October 4, 1948 in Delbarton, West Virginia, Mr. Maynard had been a longtime resident of Santa Fe. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy before beginning his career as an electrician, working for Brown and Root for over 25 years.  Wallace was a member of the VFW Post #5400 in Santa Fe and enjoyed painting, hunting, fishing and being outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Harley Maynard, Sr. and Agnes Dorothy (Ruhnke) Maynard; wife, Loraine Carol (Hill) Maynard; son, Shannon Maynard; sister, Connie Fay Macaulay.

Survivors include his sons, Wally “Gator” Maynard, III and wife, Denise of Huntley, IL, Brian Maynard and wife, Cheryl of Dickinson; daughter, Vanessa Steel and partner, Kim Birkmeyer of Santa Fe; sisters, Judy Buczyna and husband, John of Lakewood, IL, Linda Hartman and husband, Art of Elburn, IL; grandchildren, Nicholas Maynard, Chance Maynard, Jace Maynard, Tim Maynard, Brandon Western and fiance, Kelsey. Great grandson, Ezra Maynard; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor John Newton officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Maynard, Chance Maynard, Jace Maynard, Tim Maynard, Brandon Western and Jon Napoli.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the parlor of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501. 

In lieu of flowers memorials in the form of donations may be made in Wally’s name to the VFW Post #5400, Post Office Box 190, Santa Fe, TX 77510.
