William “Billy” Gene Jones

     SANTA FE – Mr. William “Billy” Gene Jones passed from this life Tuesday morning, December 19, 2017, in Santa Fe.

     Born May 1, 1947 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Mr. Jones had been a resident of Santa Fe for 25 years. He enjoyed riding his bike around town picking up cans, spending time with his friend, Braedyn and picking up pine cones to burn. He was loved by all who knew him and was affectionately known as “Uncle Bo”.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Lee and Jessie Mae (Gordon) Jones; brothers, George Jones, Bobby Jones; sisters, Ann Laymance, Faye Kainer.

     Survivors include his brother, Elroy Highsmith of Gainsville, Texas; sisters, Marie Wilson and husband, Richard of Santa Fe, Mary Mitcham of Conroe; a host of nieces and nephews.

     Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2017, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor John Newton officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.

     Pallbearers will be Andrew Mauldin, Jonathan Mauldin, Justin Mauldin, Robert Newton, Donald Thomas, Donnie Thomas. Honorary bearer will be Braedyn Mauldin.

     Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.

     Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Billy’s name to Harbor Hospice, Post Office Box 23077, Beaumont, Texas, 77720.

     The family would like to give a special thank you to Harbor Hospice especially Sunshine Perez and Destiny Moreno for their love and care.
