Lois Marie “Dickie” Herman

 HITCHCOCK - Mrs. Lois Marie “Dickie” (Henckel) Herman passed from this life Thursday evening, January 26, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.

      Born December 30, 1932 in Galveston, Mrs. Herman had been a lifelong resident of Hitchcock. She was a longstanding member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she was affiliated with the Altar Society and the Friendship Club.  Mrs. Herman owned and operated Dickie’s Dress Shop for 12 1/2 years, loved doing crafts and traveling with her husband.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Eleanor Henckel and her husband of 24 years, Fred H. Herman.

     Survivors include her sons, Mark L. Hopkins and wife, Arlene of Katy, Myles S. Hopkins and wife, Susan of League City; daughters, Marsha Knapp and husband, Leroy, Michelle Cook and husband, Mark all of Hitchcock; grandchildren, Erik Hopkins (Shanna), Kimble Hopkins, Madison Hopkins, J. Bradley Knapp (Valerie), Colby Knapp (Danielle), Lauren Cook, Kyle Cook, Chele Robinette (Vince); great-grandchildren, Madelyn Knapp, Braxton Knapp, Erik Hopkins, Jr., Ryan, Drake and Reagan Robinette.

      A Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

     Pallbearers will be Kyle Cook, Erik Hopkins, Kimble Hopkins, Brad Knapp, Colby Knapp and Vince Robinette.  Honorary bearers will be Charles “Billy” Anderson, Michael Arledge, Leigh Harbour, Jeff Landry, Keith Meier, Ron Meier, James Parsons, Carrol Stanley and Doyle White.

     The family will receive visitors at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, on Monday, January 30, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with a Vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m. under the auspices of Deacon Alvin Lovelady.
