Bonnie W. “Barney” Neaves
SANTA FE- Mr. Bonnie W. “Barney” Neaves passed from this life Thursday, January 26, 2012 in Webster.
Born February 10, 1932 in Greenwood, Mississippi, Mr. Neaves had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1971, previously of Galveston. He was a career military man, having retired from the U. S. Navy in 1970 after over 21 years of devoted service to our country. He then worked for 10 years as a pipefitter foreman with the Galveston Shipyards before joining the Teamsters Local 1111 where he worked on the South Texas Nuclear Project until he retired in 1986. He was a faithful, longtime member of Arcadia Christian Church and the VFW and enjoyed fishing, working crossword puzzles, collecting coins and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Lena Neaves; sons, Wayne “Bones” Ellis, Scott Yerrell and wife, Helen; daughter, Suzanne Crumby and husband, Larry, all of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Brian Crumby, Stacy Froebel (Jason), Stephen Ellis (Becky), Christina, Andrew and Kenneth Yerrell; great-grandchildren, Ryder Froebel and Ava Ellis; brother, Robert Neaves; sister, Kathryn Christopher, both of Greenwood, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2012, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Mr. Marty Adams officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
