Anita M. Meyer
PEARLAND, TEXAS - Mrs. Anita M. Meyer passed from this life Friday afternoon, August 27, 2010, in Pearland.
Born December 12, 1917 in Oklahoma City, OK, Mrs. Meyer had been a longtime resident of Port Aransas, Texas. Mrs. Meyer had been employed as a Comptroller with Finley Engineering for 20 years, was a member of the Gardening Club, Community Theatre and the Kiwanis Club of Port Aransas. Anita enjoyed the Corpus Christi Symphony, was an avid bridge player and supporter of Sand Fest and the River Rats of South Texas. She was a world traveler and also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching the ships going in and out of the harbor, shopping and keeping current on world issues and events.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Colwell Stewart and Ruth Catherine (Montgomery) Stewart; brother, Jimmy Stewart; sister, Margaret Ruth Cheatham.
Survivors include her sons, Stewart Meyer and wife, Adonna of Oklahoma City, OK, Jim Meyer and wife, Judy of Rifle, CO, Fred Meyer of Pearland; grandchildren, Beau Meyer, Monica Godsey and husband, Jon, Haley Townsend and husband, Curtis, Kristi Meyer, Billy Scott and wife Crystal, Gabriel Meyer and wife, Suzanne, Matthew Meyer and wife, Kelly, Jonathan Meyer and wife, Holly; great-grandchildren, Adolin, Jones, Beaudyn and Etta Godsey, Kristina and Caleb Meyer, Celeste Robinson, Ella and Hart Meyer.
A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX. (409) 925-3501. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, September 11, at 3:00 in the Aransas Princess Community Room.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to the Port Aransas Community Theatre, 2327 Highway 361, Port Aransas, TX 78373.
