Thomas Anthony “Tommy” Cambiano, Sr.

 SANTA FE - Mr. Thomas Anthony “Tommy” Cambiano, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday afternoon, February 7, 2012 in Webster, TX.

      Born November 4, 1942 in Galveston, TX, Mr. Cambiano had been a lifelong resident of the Hitchcock - Santa Fe area.  He graduated from Hitchcock High School, Class of 1960, attended Texas A & M University and graduated from Lamar Tech., had been employed with G & H Towing Company for 40 and retired as vice president of engineering where he was affectionately known as “Red” and he was a faithful, lifelong member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock.  Tommy enjoyed hunting, yard work, hot rod cars, collecting lighthouses and owls, watching professional football, especially the Green Bay Packers, but most of all, he lived for his wife, his children and his family.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic Joseph and Calista Cecilia (Anderson) Cambiano, Sr.; brother, D. J. Cambiano, Jr.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

      Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Billye Kay Cambiano of Santa Fe; children, Tommy Cambiano, Jr. and wife, Kayla of Santa Fe, Chris Ferguson and husband, John of Katy, Shelley Rehm and husband, Bruce of Santa Fe, Kenneth Popham of Austin; brother, Mark Cambiano and wife, Terrie of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Kayla Popham, Clint Buchanan, Kenny Popham, Joshua Aki, Blake Rehm, Grey Ferguson; sister-in-law, Jackie Fuller of Lewisville, KY; Nephew, Micah Cambiano; Nieces, Margie Bankhead, Mary Page, Billye Potts; uncle, Frank Cambiano and wife, Lucy of Santa Fe; aunt, Florence Anderson of Hitchcock; best friends, Carrol Young and Mike Cook; his four legged friend, “Tinker” and a host of other family.

      A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Hwy 6, (409) 925-3501.

      Casketbearers will be Louis “Butch” Cambiano, Mark Cambiano, Mike Cook, Dennis LeCompte, Mike Tacquard and John William Thiem.  Honorary casketbearer will be Micah Cambiano.

     Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with a Vigil service beginning at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Alvin Lovelady officiating and a Rosary to follow, recited by Don LeCompte. 

      In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to Avondale House, 3737 Omara, Houston, TX 77025.  Avondale House is a not for profit agency that provides education services, day programs and residential services for individuals with autism.
