Billie Ivy Obituary

Billie Marie Reynolds Ivy died peacefully in her sleep April 12, 2024, in Texas City, Texas, where she resided since 1953.

Billie was born August 15, 1935, to Silas Altus Reynolds and Eva Inez Baily Reynolds in Columbia County, Arkansas. Billie excelled at basketball at her McNeil, Arkansas schools.

Upon Billie’s marriage to George Warren Ivy in 1951, the couple lived briefly in San Antonio, Texas, where George was stationed by the U.S. Army before his deployment to France from 1951 to 1953. Billie joined George in France during most of his time there. After George completed his military service, the couple moved to Texas City and raised their three children. She was a devoted wife and homemaker and worked as a beautician for many years. Upon retirement, George and Billie divided their time between Texas City and their home in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Billie and George shared a strong Christian faith and attended church regularly throughout their marriage. She taught Sunday school to children for many years.

Billie was a zealous gardener. She focused on flowers and decorative plants, while George raised vegetables. Both loved dogs. Billie was also a talented artist.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Delma Reynolds, Wilson Reynolds, Ruth Reynolds Gilbert, and Louise Reynolds Robinson.

Survivors include her children James Douglas Ivy (Kim Corsaro Ivy), Eva Ivy Gillespie (Greg H. Gillespie), and Gregory Ivy; granddaughter Julie Tucker Parnell (Nathan Parnell); great-grandchildren Cason George Parnell, Evan Sterling Parnell, and Jonathan Luke Parnell; and nieces Bettye Gilbert Yeager and Margaret Reynolds McRaney.

The family especially thanks Billie’s devoted caregivers Jennifer and Donna for the expert and loving service they provided.

Billie will be interred at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.
