SANTA FE – Mr. Edward Glenn Gates, III, passed away at the age of 19 on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in Webster.

Born December 29, 2006, in Texas City, Mr. Gates was a lifelong resident of Santa Fe. Glenn found joy in martial arts, especially jiu-jitsu, where he appreciated the discipline, challenge, and sense of accomplishment it brought. He had a creative spirit and enjoyed drawing, expressing himself through art in his own unique way. Music was a source of happiness in his life, and he loved spending time with his buddies, making memories filled with laughter and friendship. Whether he was playing video games, relaxing at the beach, or simply driving around at night with friends, Glenn cherished life's simple moments. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his genuine heart, and the joy he brought to those fortunate enough to know and love him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edwin Ridgeway and Edward Glenn Gates, Sr.

Survivors include his mother, Crystal Ridgeway; father, Edward Glenn Gates, Jr., and stepmom, Samantha Abbott; grandparents, Dona Ridgeway and Jim Stypulczak, Rebecca Carney; brothers, Kaden Dornak, Jared Dornak, Logan Gates; cousins, Kiersten Meier, Eric Mirles; girlfriend, Jessica Joplin; numerous family and friends.

Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas, with Pastor Chevy Chavarria officiating.

Pallbearers will be Carter Caldwell, Kaden Dornak, Devon English, Jesse English, Kaden Hill, Kiersten Meier and Eric Mirles.
