SANTA FE - Mr. James David Harris, Jr. passed from this life Tuesday morning, April 2, 2024, in Texas City.

Born June 19, 1971, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Mr. Harris had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1995, previously of Galveston. He was a salesman with Moore Supply Company for over 30 years. James was a master of the grill, turning every barbeque into a feast. A lover of the great outdoors, James found solace and joy in the simplicity of camping, he cherished the serenity and beauty of nature's embrace. James was also a passionate homebrewer, crafting delicious beers and spirits that brought people together and sparked conversations. But perhaps James's greatest legacy was his unwavering willingness to help others. He never met a stranger, and his heart was always open to those in need. James touched the lives of countless people with his kindness and compassion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nancy (Cornett) Harris, Sr.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 29 years, Stephanie Harris; daughter, Victoria Gail Harris; parents-in-law, Cecil W. and Lynette Lindsey, Sr. of Santa Fe; sisters, Karen Hayes and husband, Fred of Monroe, Ohio, Sharon Bush and Matthew Loughran of Galveston, Janet Harris of Ace, Texas, Connie Drudge of Vidor, Texas, Julie Blair and husband, Chuck of Middletown, Ohio, Nancy Thornton and husband, Alan of Brazoria, Texas; brother-in-law, Cecil Lindsey, Jr. and wife, Tina of Dickinson; cat, Dude; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501, with Mr. Joseph McCullough officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Bland, Karl Buchanan, Alex Chapman, Fred Hayes, Cecil Lindsey, Jr. and Matt Loughran.
