Ross Holt entered into eternal rest at 8:52 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at his residence in Texas City. He was 79 years of age. He was born on August 23, 1927 to Ralph and Lucy Holt in Greenville, Tn. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in the mid to late 40’s. Prior to becoming a member of The First Christian Church of LaMarque family, he was a member of the Arcadia Christian Church. He was an avid coin and baseball card collector. He had a wonderful sense of humor, playing tricks and jokes on everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lucy Holt and a son, Ross William (Tom) Holt of Eustis, Fl. He leaves behind to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of almost 60 years, Avis (Kleinhans) Holt; a daughter, Karen (Dennis) Williams of LaMarque, Tx.; a son, Scott (Rose) Holt of Niceville, Fl.; a sister, Edith Rupert of Brooklyn Hts., Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Donna (Gary) Jones of Texas City, William (Billy) Adams of Webster, Kimberly Holt of Cleveland, Ohio, and Lee (Joseph) Imbrogno of Steelton Pa.; 5 great grandchildren, Christopher Hennigan, Ciara and Garrett Jones, Mackayla Hennigan and Haley Ann Imbrogno. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family has respected his wishes and cremation will be handled by Hayes Funeral Home in Hitchcock.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church of LaMarque, 1204 Ross Avenue in LaMarque, with Pastor Rex Teter officiating.
The family would like to extend a very special “Thank You” for the loving, gentle and compassionate care given to our loved one by Kim Mlcak, R.N. BSN, Shirley Julian CNA, Evelyn Lupardus, Chaplain and many more too numerous to mention from Hospice Care Team, Inc. of Texas City and Verneal Kyles with Continuous Care Solutions, Houston.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in his memory to Hospice Care Team, Inc., 1708 Amburn Road, Suite C, Texas City, Texas, First Christian Center of LaMarque, or a charity of your choice.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
