Sondra J. “Sunny” Wilkin

 
SANTA FE - Mrs. Sondra J. “Sunny” Wilkin (nee Lavelle) passed from this life Monday, July 23, 2007, at her home.

Born January 2, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Wilkin had been a resident of Santa Fe for 23 years.  She had been employed as a Ship to Shore Marine Operator with BP and a radio operator with KLC for many years, was the former president of Ladies Auxiliary FOE Aerie # 3789 and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.   Sunny was an avid reader who was very outgoing, had a good sense of humor and enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting for her grandchildren and was known as a very caring person.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Allen Brown; parents, Edward and Margaret (nee Policy) Lavelle Kahoun; brother, Edward Lavelle; sister, Quintina Richmond.

Survivors include her loving husband of over 14 years, Michael A. Wilkin; children, Carole Wozney (Roger), Linda Brown, Dale Brown (Beverly), Brenda DeGrandis (Pete), Edward Brown; sisters, Madeline Tackett, Margaret Gentry; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501. 

Those who wish to honor her memory may consider memorials in the form of donations to the Ladies Auxiliary FOE Aerie # 3789 Scholarship Fund or by registering to be an organ donor.
