Vincent John Macaluso, Sr.

 

     SANTA FE - Mr. Vincent John Macaluso, Sr. passed from this life Saturday, August 11, 2007, at his home.

 

     Born February 25, 1927 in Alta Loma, TX, Mr. Macaluso had been a lifelong resident of Galveston County.  He had been employed as an ironworker with the Ironworkers Local #135 where he retired after 17 years of service, drove a school bus for O’Connell High School where he retired after 12 years, was co-owner of M & M Keg Shop, served in the US Army during WWII, was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time fishing, working with wood and especially loved his grandchildren. 

 

     He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Wayne Macaluso; parents, Dominic Joseph and Nora (Sckittoni) Macaluso; brother, Joe Macaluso and twin sister, Ada Capuano.

 

     Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Theresa Macaluso; sons, Vincent Macaluso, Jr., Donnie Macaluso and wife, Mary, all of Santa Fe; brothers, Frank Macaluso and wife, Jo Ann of Galveston, Paul Macaluso and Sue of Santa Fe; sisters, Camilla Prejean of Sour Lake, TX, Rosie Dunn of League City; grandchildren, Jeana Howard and husband, Darrin, Shannon Wylie and husband, Jason, Jason Macaluso and wife, Anna, Kevin Crawford and wife, Heather, Anthony, Darrin, Devin and Meagan Macaluso; great-grandchildren, Bayleigh, Blake, Madison, Brayleigh, Houston and Chase.

 

     A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

 

     Casketbearers will be Kevin Crawford, Darrin Howard, Anthony Macaluso, Darrin Macaluso, Jason Macaluso and Jason Wylie.  Honorary bearer will be Devin Macaluso.

 

     Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.  A Vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. with Deacon Joe Kelly officiating.

 

     Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, 9002 Emmett F. Lowry Expy., Texas City, TX 77591.
