William Leslie “Bill” Albrecht, 59, beloved son, brother and friend, died Wednesday, August 9, 2007 at the Heights Group Home in El Campo, Texas. Bill was born July 4, 1948 to Leslie Smith and Josephine Salinas Albrecht in Texas City, Texas. Raised in League City, Bill was loving and compassionately cared for at Heights Group Home for the last 21 years of his life. He was a great joy to all who came in contact with him. His contagious love and good humor brighten each day. Through the care and guidance of the Heights Group Home, Texana MHMR and All the Little Things Count and ARC of El Campo, Bill lived a full and happy life often enjoying outings in Special Olympics, travel, swimming, dances, his music and coloring at home and fun and positive interactions with his housemates and care givers. Survived by his sisters and their spouses, Mary and Frank Stutzman and Evelyn and David Garland, of Kemah, Caroline and Lewis Wofford of League City, a brother, Leslie Smith Albrecht, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Flowery Branch, Georgia, five nieces, three nephews, and 10 great- nieces and nephews, Bill will be greatly missed in the family circle. The family extends its deepest gratitude to the multitude of care givers Bill has had at Heights Group Home through Texana MHMR, All the Little Things Count, the El Campo Workshop and the support and care of the ARC Board for their loving and compassionate care over the years, Elia Rodriguez, Melissa William, Jessica Hearse, Dodie Everts, Craig Yackel, James Roberts, Joe Lewis, Kayland Latham and Armondo Garcia. Their genuine love for Bill has shown through in all their exemplary work. Special sympathy is extended by the family to Bill’s long-time house mate Michael Short. Funeral Services will be conducted 4:00 p.m., Monday, August 13, 2007, in the Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor John Newton officiating.
