William Lewis Teel

 

     SANTA FE – Mr. William Lewis Teel, passed from this life Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at his home.


    
Born January 22, 1927, in Galveston, Texas, Mr. Teel had been a resident of Santa Fe for 31 years, previously of Texas City.  He had been employed as a carpenter with Carpenters Local # 973 for over 22 years, a former longshoreman, a welder at Todd’s Shipyard and with Houston Natural Gas in Texas City and was a Merchant Marine.  Mr. Teel is a Deacon at College View Baptist Church and former Deacon at First Baptist Church of Texas City, and he was the former Pastor of Cowboy Chapel in Santa Fe.


     He was preceded in death by parents, William and Catherine Teel; son, Joseph Coy Teel; grandson, Jack Ryan, III; sisters, Juanita Lambert, Estelle Venzke; brother-in-law, Joe Venzke.

 

     Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Teel of Santa Fe; sons, David W. Teel of Santa Fe, Timothy Teel of Winslow, Arizona, Michael Lee Teel of Galveston, Jonathan Paul Teel and Pam of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughter, Kathy Marie Ryan and son-in-law, Jack Ryan, II of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Brian Teel, Jason England, Danial Teel, Tammy Teel, Amy Granbery, Joe Palmer; great-grandchildren, Austin Granbery, Emily Granbery, Shelby Teel, Jason Teel, Savanah Teel; niece, Evelyn Smith,; nephews, Elmer Venzke and John Venzke.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2008, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Nathan Davis officiating.  Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

     Casketbearers will be Joe Palmer, Brian Teel, Jack Ryan, II, Jason England, Jerry Duke and Dewey Eastep.

 

     Friends may call from 9 - 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.
