Zada E. Long

SANTA FE - Mrs. Zada E. Long passed from this life Monday afternoon, January 23, 2012, in La Marque.

     Born November 19, 1921 in Arcadia, TX, Mrs. Long had been a lifetime resident of Santa Fe.  She was a member of Arcadia Christian Church. She co-owned and managed Long’s Grocery Store in Arcadia before attending beauty college in Houston, and then opening Zada’s Beauty Shop, which she operated for 35 years.  Zada had also been a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Alvin since 1984, the Home Extension Club, a life member of VFW Post #5400 Ladies Auxiliary and thoroughly enjoyed making crafts, oil paintings and was an avid reader.

    She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Henry John Findeisen and Jack Long; son,  Jack Long, II; parents, Edgar Andrew and Zada Blanche (Tully) Powers and brother, Jearl Powers and sister, Delpha L. Long.

     Survivors include her sons, Edgar John Findeisen and wife, Irene of Miami, FL, Ben Henry Findeisen and wife, Sandy of Splendora, TX; daughter, Sally Jo Montgomery and husband, Butch of Weslaco, TX; grandchildren, John Edgar Findeisen and wife, Mariel, Michelle Marie Amador and husband, Emilio, John Aaron Findeisen and wife, Regina, Kelly Marie Carpenter and husband, Scott, Samantha Valdez; great-grandchildren, Adriana, Caroline and Natalia Findeisen, Ethan Amador, Emily and Jacob Findeisen, Nolan, Barrett and Travis Carpenter; sisters, Nettie Ratliff of New Braunfels, Iris Windham of Santa Fe and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Arcadia Christian Church with Mr. John Andrew Windham officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Southpark Cemetery in Pearland.

     Pallbearers will be Bryce Baker, Pete deGroot, John Aaron Findeisen, Jack Johnson, Adrian Keith, Gary Windham. 

     Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, 10412 Hwy 6, (409) 925-3501.
