Alice Koym Yantis

    TEXAS  CITY - Mrs. Alice Koym Yantis passed from this life Sunday, May 7, 2017, in Texas City.

     Born March 17, 1914 in East Bernard, TX, Mrs. Yantis had been a resident of Galveston County since 1957. Alice earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Southwest Texas State Teachers College and started teaching at the age of 18, later teaching 3rd grade at Hitchcock ISD.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Tonie (Klein) Koym and her husband, Winton Lee Yantis.

     Survivors include her son, Robert Yantis and wife, Dottie of Plano; daughter Dr. Jean Parker Eldred of Nacogdoches and granddaughter Christie Parker of Seattle.

     Funeral services begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home in Hitchcock, TX. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery. Hayes Funeral Home
