Dewey Lee Butler
BAYOU VISTA – Mr. Dewey Lee Butler passed from this life on Monday, June 11, 2018, at his home in Bayou Vista, Texas.
Dewey was born February 4, 1948, in Galveston, Texas. His family moved to Alta Loma, Texas, in 1956. He graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1966 where he played football and basketball. Dewey joined the Marine Corps upon graduation and served for four years. He and his wife, Deloris dated in high school and were married in 1968. They were married for 50 years.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Eloise Butler.
Dewey was a journeyman pipefitter and worked construction. He worked for ten years in several northern states where he managed plant turnarounds and renovations. He like to read and challenge one’s ideals and beliefs. He was a devoted husband, a caring father and a steadfast friend. He liked fast cars and was a good mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Deloris; son, Jason Butler; daughter, Misha Hockenbury and husband, Jerry; sister, Delynn Greene; brothers, Denis and wife, Roberta, Dean Butler and wife, Jackie; grandchildren, Aubri and Tyler Hockenbury, Bree, Brenlee and Brooklynn Butler and one great grandchild on the way; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2018 in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Mr. Dean Butler officiating.
The family would like to thank the Hospice caregivers for their patience and kindness.
